I'm sorry, but what exactly keeps you from testing a different
version of mate-screensaver from snapshots.debian.org or doing a
test installation in a VirtualBox or kvm virtual machine?

Lazyness?

No one asks you to understand the code and propose a patch, but
even as a complete newbie, you can perform tests. Different
desktop environments, different user profiles, different package
versions and so on. There are endless things you could try in
order to help us debug the problem. But instead of doing that,
you just lean back and ask others to fix your problem.

To be honest, I should just refrain from replying to bug reports
like this one. It's just too frustrating.

Thanks,
Adrian
