Hey Dmitry, did you try using "dh $@ --with webext" rather than manually symlinking and unzipping stuff in the postinst?

I wrote some emails about it previously in this thread.

There are lots of things left to do but it should be able to handle simple WebExtensions like tree-style-tab well. For a quick out-dated example see this:
