hmm, well.

so if the original "source" (that is: the M$-word document) is lost
(mind that this is still unclear!), i guess that the pdf would be the
preferred form of modification - at least it would (have to) be the
starting point for *any* modification.

hopefully i will meet upstream next tuesday, where i will raise the
