so i contacted upstream, and after a lot of digging on dusty harddisks
the original .doc file has re-appeared.

so does this mean that they have to do another release that includes
the .doc file in the source-package?

do we then have to actually *build* the pdf from the doc?
(or would a note suffice, that claims that the doc is the source of
the pdf?)

i'm starting to think that it would be simplest to just exclude the
pdf (after all it's German only and documents the library's state >10
years ago; this is not to say that it is not still valid or useful)
