Yes: We need actual source, not just assurance that source exist.

If we want to ship the PDF with binary packages, then indeed it needs to
be built from the source (else we cannot be sure the binary that we ship
is not somehow different - e.g. contains non-free Adobe font code).

Sounds like this this odd chase is almost complete. I suggest to try to
complete it - also to show respect for those bothered on the way getting
this far :-)
