Thanks for the comments!
I plan syncing the default device with lirc in the next upload to at leas cover
users with default configuration.

Kodi's build system allows setting the default device through a
./configure option
thus I think this does not have to be upstreamed.

Do you mean upstreaming a more complex device detection logic?
