that's good, i'm sure haydn's admins appreciate a more conservative
use of their resources too=20

a couple questions:

how should we handle the debian changelog numbering?  should we to
something like x.y-z.1 and z.y-z.2 until we agree on a new version,
or should we just continuously increment the number?

one of the first things i'll be interested to see is whether #257702
is actually fixed.  i'll look into that.  aside from that, the
maintainer scripts need some work too--i'll start with those
