The upgrade issues and step-by-step instructions to recover are
documented in the NEWS, the README, and (assuming my MR gets reviewed)
will be mentioned in the release notes too.

The upstream upgrade notes also recommend migrating to back_mdb before
beginning an upgrade to 2.5.
