At least some of it is needed for salt-cloud. The bootstrap
script [1] is copied to the remote host and run to install
salt. The others are outdated and are probably closer to examples
of alternatives to the bootstrap.

I could move some of them to an examples directory in salt-doc,
make them executable or remove most of them and still just have
the bootstrap script.

None of those solutions are particularly satisfying - which is
why the lintian issues are still there. Any guidance would be
most appreciated.
