SDL 2.0 debian package?

OK.  Do you plan to have a release candidate, or are you going to go
straight ahead with a full release?

Or otherwise, what do you recommend us to check out, whatever is in
head/tip of the VCS at the moment, or some other specific (like the
tar.gz linked from the website, 2013-01-01)?

I'm a bit lost with this... what would be the binary package for?  To
test that the version of the SDL library itself yields correct results
on the given OS/architechture build (kind of internal unit tests)?
Kind of "samples" or demos?  Or for programmers, to test the
capabilities so they know what's supoprted in the current system?
