Just wanted to say hello to everyone in the group. Christian kindly
invited me over, after I had expressed general interest in helping out
with whatever work is needed here -- as time permits, and as far as my
abilities allow, of course.

I can't expect you to know me, so I guess a brief intro is due. Not
sure whether this is common practice here, but I'd rather err on the
side of good manners ;)
I work as a software developer since about 1995 (Unix environment).
Privately, I've been fiddling with computers for much longer (about
1985, Atari ST era). I'm a debian user since 2000 -- however, I'm a
total newbie with respect to debian package management.
So far, I've been in contact with the following languages (roughly
sorted by experience): Perl, C, Java, C++, Python. Also, web stuff,
and more esoteric things like PostScript/PDF (from the perspective of
the programmer generating the code) -- but I guess the latter isn't of
much relevance here...). Programming / sysadmining ratio at work is
approximately 80% : 20%. And, just in case you haven't inferred from
my name: I'm female, and from Germany.

I guess I'll probably lurk for some time, and just look around to get a
feel for what exactly this is all about, and how things are being run
here... IOW, if you don't hear much from me during my warm-up phase,
this doesn't necessarily mean I've lost interest :)

Looking forward to a productive cooperation,

Almut
