sysv-rc: 2.87dsf-6
initscripts: 2.87dsf-6
The weird thing is, it's exactly the same with my laptop.
This is however a 32bit install, but except for this, anything is the same, also Debian Sid, the same kernel.
Is it important that i've both 'unstable' and 'testing' in the sources.list ? It's a provision for downgrading. But there's no preference, so it more or less equals Sid (i think).
I just don't know how to track this. The whole rc2 just starts over a second time.
With disabled gdm, at textconsole login, i can see boot messages left on screen showing that all rc2 services were starting a second time, and of course, most FAILing. Some don't say FAIL.
I can not find these messages in any system log. Only some of them are in daemon.log, some are not.
I would like to provide you with that messages, but how can i do it ? I acitvated bootlogd, but the file /var/log(boot is empty. (What is it doing at all then ?)
I note that portmap and NFS statd are launched three times - is that because they are launched two times normally ?
Who is calling init ? Is it the kernel ? I did try with an old kernel 2.6.26 but it's exactly the same.
There was this line 're-exec init' in some log, what does it mean ?
Maybe something is wrong with my filesystem ? Would init re-exec if it could not write some file or so ? SELinux is disabled, this is verified in the logs too.
Here is my /etc/fstab, and a fresh 'dmesg' (after booting into textconsole).
Please can you give me a hint how i can track this ?
