You could rebuild xine with --enable-vdr-keys (file a wishlist bug).

Or you could use gxine, which has VDR support by default. There's a CVS HEAD
snapshot in my repository (see below); maybe I should make 0.4.4 available
too in this way since it doesn't look likely that it'll be in sarge :-|
