No, I do not feel comfortable creating an extra branch out of 4.2, I'd
rather support the mainstream project. As far as I understand, KPhone
v 4.2 was the last version in its strain and the future development
has moved to KPhoneSI, which I am working on now.

I hope Mark Purcell can drop a line regarding your plans on KPhoneSI
so I'd be a better help for Debian.
