I just thought some more about this. I seems like what happens is that
when nameresolution isn't working when asterisk starts. It would
actually try registering again some times (as configured by the
registertimeout and registerattempts)

When the nameserver would then come up it will register, but I would
still get the failure tone(from my upstream provider I guess) and
asterisk not noticing any incomming calls to it?

so something is wrong when asterisk is retrying I guess?
