Hi there, I'm the uplink developer of pkpgcounter

pkpgcounter uses PIL mostly to do ink coverage accounting, and doesn't
use it to count pages in PDF, but may use it for other supported
multipage file formats (e.g. TIFF)

I'll try to help as best as I can to fix this issue.
