what does
dmesg | grep "Scanner"
say?
If it does not say:
uscanner0: EPSON EPSON Scanner ....
It may say:
ugen0 EPSON EPSON Scanner ....
In this case you have do modify your kernel Sources and compile your
Kernel news. If that is your problem, so tell me, I'll tell you what
you have to do. (Or I can send you the modified files...)
