Oh yes, it works!

# scanimage -L
device `epson:libusb:001:002' is a Epson GT-9300 flatbed scanner
device `net:localhost:epson:libusb:001:002' is a Epson GT-9300 flatbed scanner

Timeouts and all other problems are gone, now scanning negatives with
xsane works perfectly, and very fast :)
