[sane-devel] Working on Canon Pixma-MAXIFY ADF support?

Hi all,

I've been looking into ADF support on the Canon Maxify 2120 (and probably most other Canon MAXIFY MFPs).

While the 2120 flatbed scan works perfectly with the pixma driver once the proper device ID is included, when the Maxify is in ADF mode it fails to scan.

This is because the scanner only supports returning a JPEG (and hence has no gamma control and will error out if a gamma table is sent).  I have no idea why this would be, but even the Windows traces I've seen use RAW for flatbed and JPEG for ADF, so I think it's just someone's design decision.

I've now got a hack that gets the compressed JPEGS returned and was going to properly update the pixma-mfp150.c to include real JPEG support (similar to how the epsonds driver handles it was my thinking) and hence make the ADF work properly.

Just wanted to check if Rolf Bensch or others were already working on this, or if I should spend the time to get a good patch in.  It's been over 10 years since my first scanner driver (SM3840...still there in the code base!), so I figure I'm due for another...

Thanks,
-EFP3
