You can use the hostname instead of the IP.
This can be more convenient in case of change of ip pat the device.
Test to make sure it works:
scanimage -d 'escl:http://BRW7440BBC86E6E.local:80' > test.pnm
Add this line in /etc/sane.d/escl.conf
####### Add in escl.conf #######
device http://BRW7440BBC86E6E.local:80 "Brother DCP-J772DW"
####### end escl.conf ############
