I have repeated the test, but this time with "Positive film", so
this time it succeeds.
The attached sane_debug_good4.txt.gz log should be pretty similar
to sane_debug3.txt.gz (a failure with Positive Slide).
So I hope that a diff might help track down what is going wrong.
I have truncated sane_debug_good4.txt.gz to avoid a huge file
with all the buffers full of the successful preview image.
The truncation is just after the matching place where sane_debug3.txt.gz
ends of course.
I hope to have a bit more time later this evening and see if I can
follow what is going on.
