I applied the patch however it seems it's already enabled, ie
[dhcp-72114 13:22] ~/nut-2.6.4 >upsc ups1 at localhost | grep ups.shu
ups.shutdown: enabled

I set it anyway, and the test seems to have worked - the load now goes off soon after the PC shuts off and waits until the battery charges.
