Correct. I was working on a way to leverage the built-in GUI ("Energy Saver" in System Preferences) to shut down a Mac from a remote NUT upsd, but it has taken a back seat to other NUT-related work.
If you're looking for a quick solution with no configuration file editing, buy another UPS that is supported by OS X, and plug it into the server directly.
