Hi Yarik,

Thanks for the prompt reply. We've tried your files but it did
not work. My (preliminary) understanding is that the build/install
process of PyMVPA overwrites the custom files so the compilation still
fails. The very old swig on our CentOS server is v1.4.3.

Anyway the solution was very simple: we downloaded the latest
swig tarball (2.0.4) and manually installed it - as we did for all the software
I mentioned before. The latest swig works well and PyMVPA is now
installed on the server :-)
