Whatever mode you choose in BIOS it will have to support EPP
since the backend wouldn't work without it. You may try EPP 1.7, EPP
1.9, ECP+EPP (also called ECP/EPP depending on the BIOS provider).
To my knowledge, the "lp0: using parport0 (polling)" message
tells that no IRQ is used. You may change it with the 'tunelp' command.
Or force use of an IRQ by passing an 'irq=...' option in
/etc/modules.conf, as I stated in a reply to the same message.
